The first day at the Met Cloisters was spent on deciding on an ideal spot for me to paint for the duration of the Copyist Program.
All the preparation that I had put in to find the best place to paint worked out nicely and one of my top choices was approved to begin the Copyist Residency at the Met Cloisters.

Once the spot was selected, I carefully laid down light canvas and opened the French Easel to begin painting.
At exactly 11:30 am, I began by toning my painting surface with scarlet sienna. I thought about toning it gray, but decided on the sienna in my tribute to Caravaggio.
