This portrait was completed in 2 weeks, in 4 sessions with the model. The entire paintings was completed with 3 colors. I know, it looks like it's simply a black & white painting, but the painting actually includes many shades of gray.
I have given a lot of thought about how to decorate her blouse. I spent a few days thinking about it because there was no print on the blouse. At the end, I painted flowers that were inspired by the Flamboyant Trees in Puerto Rico.
The title of this painting is "Paloma". After years of drawing portraits in pencil, Paloma is considered my first--completed--portrait in oil. I moved on to using a range of colors to my oil paintings following this.
